More stuff

BJ | October 1, 2008 10:18 pm

Sorry I didn’t make this post earlier, but I’ve been increasingly lazy/busy. Heather has an update coming and it will be a large one. We keep notes of the what the girls are doing so don’t worry you won’t miss anything. You will however be greeted with a wall of text since we have a wedding shoot to do this weekend. Expect updates sometime next week.

I have all my equipment now, and purchased a bat bag to carry it all. I’ll post some shots with the different lenses when I get a chance. I’ll probably take a ton of extraneous photos since I can only keep the rental equipment until the 8th. I’ll find an excuse to use the 3 extra lenses.

Here are some photo picks from the last few weeks. Oh and in case you haven’t noticed there is a new link to the left. Click on it and you’ll be taken to an album of our latest 120 photos.

New lens

BJ | September 10, 2008 10:48 am

Yay. The Tamron 28-75 came in. I took some test shots and I love the lens so far.

It focuses really close and get wide enough for my need when I’m taking shots of the girls. It’s now my default short portrait lens, and luckily I got one that is really sharp wide open and has no focus issues, which are common problems with off-brand lenses. Here’s the test shots I took. Stuffed animal for sharpness, close up of sleeping daughter for focus, and a shot of phoebe to see how the bokeh looks.

My light stands should be coming in today. The radio triggers will probably be another week. I’ll have some two light shots when the stands come in and then try and incorporate 3 when I get the triggers in as well.

Trip to Oklahoma

BJ | August 11, 2008 10:39 am

I went to Jo Ellen’s reception and took some photos for them. Normally I would just leave them in the gallery but everyone who reads our blog knows who she is anyway. Here are some highlights and a hibiscus picture just for Adrian.

Portraits were taken with sb-600 and shoot through umbrella at camera left. Hibiscus pic was taken with Spencer hand holding the shoot through and flash high camera right.

Post processing was done in Adobe Lightroom, D2X Mode 2 color for all pics, then ran through noise ninja in PS CS3 and then sharpened with softlight high pass and converted to sRGB.

King Triton does not approve of how we treat our kids

BJ | August 8, 2008 9:37 pm

You see, our children like being held upside down. They whine for it constantly. Nana decided to oblige, but king triton was shocked… SHOCKED that we would do such a thing.

Heather is Late

BJ | August 7, 2008 11:53 am

I just realized she hadn’t done the weekly post yet. She’s been busy though. With birthday weekend, dermatology appointments for our daughter, husband going to the dentist, church stuff, and her mother out of commission due to knee surgery, she has been quite busy. I really appreciate her.

I got a flash for my camera and have some lighting equipment coming in this week. I’ll get to try it all out at Jo Ellen’s reception.

At my desk and eating lunch

BJ | July 21, 2008 12:05 pm

It’s been a while since I’ve been in a position to post anything of note. I spent most of last week at a work conference. The fun part is that it was held at the Ft Worth stockyards, so I got some fun pictures.

Some of the following pictures are HDR pics, but I’ve tried to be a little more subtle about them than others you might find on the web.

Also, the hotel was supposed to be haunted, so I took some long exposures to see if I could catch anything. You’ll have to look close and probably turn up your brightness a bit, but I think I see something by the window…

This is just a preview, Happy Late July 4th

BJ | July 6, 2008 10:23 pm

This is just a preview. There are plenty more fireworks shots in the gallery. I’m also really getting the hang of light room.

Catching Rain

BJ | June 19, 2008 5:30 pm

I forgot to mention this last week. Sophia loves watering the flowers we have in our entryway/porch. One rainy day a week or so ago I walked out to see the rain. Sophia followed me since she was very, very interested in the rain noise. When I made it out the front door and stood looking at the rain, Sophia picked up her little watering can.

“Water, please.”
“Water flowers.”
“Sophia, do you want me to put water in your watering can?”
“Yes… water, please…”
“But there’s water falling from the sky.”
“RAIN!”

At this point she walks out into the rain and holds the watering can out so she can fill it with water.
