Why you should vote for Ron Paul, ADD edition

BJ | March 28, 2007 12:01 pm

Here’s a list of quick quotes form the the best Presidential candidate for 2008. These were taken from here (lewrockwell.com)

“We can’t tax, borrow, and inflate forever. That’s what we’ve been doing, and our obligations are overwhelming.”

“Whether it’s a war on drugs, a war on illiteracy, or a war on whatever, people say ‘well, it’s a war; we have to be willing to sacrifice our liberties and let the government take care of us’…we would be safer and we would be more economically secure if we assumed responsibility for ourselves.”

“It’s hypocritical and childish to dismiss certain founding principles simply because a convenient rationale is needed to justify interventionist policies today. The principles enshrined in the Constitution do not change.”

“[Courts] routinely rubber stamp egregious violations of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments, and allow Congress to legislate wildly outside the bounds of its enumerated powers.”

“Most of our mistakes can be laid at the doorstep of our failure to follow the Constitution.”

“We must rethink the very role of government in our society. Anything less, any tinkering or ‘reform,’ won’t cut it.”

“We forget that those powers not explicitly granted to Congress by the Constitution are inherently denied to Congress.”

“…politicians are not supposed to have power over us – we’re supposed to be free. We seem to have forgotten that freedom means the absence of government coercion.”

“Remember that one’s relationship with the state is never voluntary. Every government edict, policy, regulation, court decision, and law ultimately is backed up by force…. That is why political power must be fiercely constrained by the American people.”

“Our constitutional system…was designed to restrain political power and place limits on the size and scope of government.”

“In a free society, government is restrained – and therefore political power is less important. I believe the proper role for government in America is to provide national defense, a court system for civil disputes, a criminal justice system for acts of force and fraud, and little else.”

“…with truly limited government, [i]t simply would not matter much who occupied various political posts, since their ability to tax, spend, and regulate would be severely curtailed. This is why champions of political power promote an activist government that involves itself in every area of our lives from cradle to grave.”

“Political power is inherently dangerous in a free society: it threatens the rule of law, and thus threatens our fundamental freedoms. Those who understand this should object whenever political power is glorified.”

“We get into trouble by not following the precepts of liberty or obeying the rule of law.”

“We cannot suspend the laws of economics or the principles of human action any more than we can suspend the laws of physics. Yet this is precisely what Congress attempts to do time and time again, no matter how many times history proves them wrong…”

“If …you [pay] $1000 less in taxes next year, have you taken something from the government that rightfully belongs to it? Or has the government simply taken less from you? You don’t cost the government money, the government costs you money!”

“Taxes never create prosperity.”

“Most importantly, federal spending must be dramatically reduced so that all Americans can go back to working for themselves instead of working to pay their taxes.”

“Once we accept that the federal government needs [trillions] from us – and more each year – the only question left is from whom it will be collected. Until the federal government is held to its proper constitutionally limited functions, tax reform will remain a mirage.”

“I apply a very simple test to any proposal to overhaul the tax code: Does it reduce or eliminate an existing tax? If not, then it amounts to nothing more than a political shell game that pits taxpayers against each other in a lobbying scramble to make sure the other guy pays. True tax reform is as simple as cutting or eliminating taxes.”

“Politicians throughout history have tried to solve every problem conceivable to man, always failing to recognize that many of the problems we face result from previous so-called political solutions. Government cannot be the answer to every human ill. Continuing to view more government as the solution to problems will only make matters worse.”

“Money and power are important only because the government wields power not granted by the Constitution. A limited, constitutional government would not tempt special interests to buy the politicians who wield power.”

“The big government nanny-state…assumes people are not smart or responsible enough to take care of themselves, and thus their needs must be filled through the government’s forcible redistribution of wealth. Our system of intervention assumes that politicians and bureaucrats have superior knowledge, and are endowed with certain talents that produce efficiency. These assumptions don’t seem to hold much water…”

“With no consistent moral defense of true liberty, the continued erosion of personal and property rights is inevitable. This careless disregard for liberty, our traditions, and the Constitution have brought us disaster…”

“A real solution to our problems will require a better understanding of, and greater dedication to, free markets and private property rights…. Our liberties and our prosperity depend on it.”

“…one has to wonder how Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin would react to the current state of affairs. After all, they were outraged by mere import tariffs of a few pennies on the dollar. Today, the average American pays roughly 50 percent of their income in direct and indirect taxes.”

“…[many] are not bashful about using government power to do ‘good’…always speaking of the noble goals while ignoring the inevitable failures and evils caused by coercion…. Once we concede government has this ‘legitimate’ function…constitutional limits on power and its mandate to protect liberty are totally forgotten.”

“…government action rarely solves any problem, but rather worsens existing problems or creates altogether new ones.”

My Xbox Live gamertag is Yoritomo79

BJ | March 22, 2007 10:40 am

I bought an Xbox 360 on Monday. Add me to your friends. I would like to blow you up playing Worms HD.

If you’re wondering if I’m referring to anyone in particular, I would have to answer that I am not. I am referring to whoever happens to be reading this and has an Xbox 360.

I don’t have any game other than Xbox live arcade titles, but I’ll eventually be into your PGR3s, Gears of Wars, Crackdowns, Forza 2s, and other forthcoming games.

“So why did you buy an Xbox 360?” you might ask. My answer is Virtua Fighter 5 lost PS3 exclusivity.

My man done good!

I am a girly girl and so silly holidays like Valentines Day do mean something for me. Not much; I need at the very least a card and some little extra recognition that BJ loves me. On my part I had saved Christmas money to take he and I to Fogo de Chao, an expensive restaurant that BJ and I have not been to since our first year of marriage. I made reservations a month in advance and had it all planned out. I also got tickets for us to go to the Dallas Auto Show, another thing he and I had not been to in years. Plus, he loves cars and that sort of thing so I knew he would enjoy himself very much. I had given him a card on Valentines Day (and Sophia too!) but received not a thing from my husband! I figured he got lazy and then before he knew it the day was come and gone and therefore too late to at least get a card. He kept teasing me “Maybe I haven’t gotten it yet, maybe it hasn’t come in yet, maybe you’ll be getting it this weekend” and so on and so on. Time passed and his negligence was forgotten, until BJ would occassionaly bring up something to get me riled up to remind him he did NADA for V day. (which I later found out he was riling me up on purpose so I would whine about it)

Little did I know he was plotting and planning. He wonderfully surprised me with tickets to Cirque du Soleil and we had an amazing time. We had not been back to Cirque since the night he proposed to me so it was very special. He did a good job at keeping this hidden, and I had no clue until we were pulling into the parking lot and he had me pull the tickets from the glove compartment. He truly redeemed himself. I love you sweetie and thanks again for a memorable night!

Ron Paul has formally announced his candidacy

Read more info from smallgovtimes.com.

This is sort of a brash thing to say but there are only two choices in the upcoming election, Ron Paul or anyone else. There is a deluded consistent notion that there is Republican opposition to a burgeoning Democratic push to take the White House. The sad fact is that there is little to no difference between any of the Republicrats seeking office. Ron Paul is the only Republican or Democrat that is opposed to gun control. Giuliani is pro-choice, pro-gun control, and hopes to solve our immigration issues by expanding immigration. McCain is pro-life, pro-gun control, and hopes to solve our immigration issues by expanding immigration. Romney was side by side with Giuliani on his “moral” issues up until about a year ago when he decided he wanted to woo conservatives, and has since changed his mind about abortion and immigration. Note that all three are pro-gun control.

It might be a sad fact, but many people vote on these issues alone. If you’re one of them, and are a classic moral conservative know that Ron Paul is currently the only candidate who is anti-gun control, pro-life, and is pushing for immigration reform. I do need to add that he sees abortion as a State’s Rights issue and would be unlikely to push for a Federal ban, or any legislation that would exert more control from the Federal Government.

Ron Paul is a non-interventionist. He is against the Patriot act and has been from the beginning. He has voted no to every bill that has sought to expand the control of the Federal Government. There was a time when Republicans were the small government party. With corporate subsidies, no-bid contracts, and increased protectionism towards big business, this is no longer the case. Please help Ron Paul reign in the Federal government. Vote for him in the primaries. I will be doing everything I can to help him get in the White House.

There is a lot that has been lost in America due to ever expanding control from the Federal Government. Lets see if we can get it back.

It’s probably a Girl

BJ | 10:31 am

The bun in the oven, due August 2nd, will come out a girl according to the sonographer. Heather already wrote this in her post but that fact might have been lost amongst all the exclamation points, so I thought it necessary to repost it here.

My plans are working…

Heather | March 6, 2007 4:26 pm

Our little family had the sonogram today. BJ, Sue, Jeff, Michael, Catey, and my mother all said it would be a boy. THEY WERE WRONG!!! I had been hoping and praying and only referencing the baby as a girl. My dream came true and my plans are working. Since this was an unexpected pregnancy, and following so closely after Sophia, we NEEDED a girl. We won’t have to buy anything, and I won’t have to clean out and paint another room. So, I had been planning things around it being a girl. Thank goodness it is all working out! I was so stressed over this. Now all BJ and I have to do is pick a name, and unfortunately we cannot agree on a single thing. Strangely enough, we did have a boy’s name chosen, but I won’t reveal that. The sonograms turned out so wonderful and she looks perfect, just like Sophia did. I almost feel like I am having twins, just 15 months apart. I guess we will have to wait and see how much they will look alike…..if at all!

New file archive

BJ | March 1, 2007 10:45 am

I’ve moved the new protected file archive to http://upload.naasen.org/protected. music.naasen.org is gone and is slowly being replaced by it’s partner section in the protected archive.

Generic login is the same, e-mail me for details of access.

Also http://upload.naasen.org has a version of CeleronDude’s upload script on it. Feel free to use it for hosting images and smaller files. I have to manually approve users so if I’m being slow just send me an e-mail.
